I am so excited about the start of the new year for kids here at FBCO. You may have noticed that we have a new name and logo for our preschool and children’s ministry. “Kids Life” is not just a name, but a description of what we value and our mission to kids. I have heard it said that kids are our future church, but the truth is they are an important part of the church now. Who they are right now and what God wants to do in and through them is what we want to help build. “Kids Life” is made up of four elements that will help kids fulfill God’s design for them.

L – Loving God (worship)
I – Inviting Others (evangelism)
F – Filling Needs (serving)
E – Exploring Gods Word (growing)

Just as water is the source of life here on this earth, Jesus Christ is the source for real life that is full and lasts forever. Our mission here at FBCO is to connect kids to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Life on this earth must have water to grow and be fruitful, so must our children be connected to the living water, the Holy Spirit, to grow in faith and serve as God has purposed for them.

And Jesus said:

“But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” John 7:38

All of our classes, clubs, events, and camps work together to carry out our mission by “Connecting kids to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ!”

Fall Schedule Changes

There are some new changes happening this Fall. Awana Club and Children’s music will now be on Wednesday. Preschool and Children’s Music will be 6:00-6:30 p.m. and then Awana Club will meet from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Our Current Wednesday night program “Shift” will be incorporated into the Council time of Awana and it will be called “H2O”. It will have a fun new look and new activities. It will be Children’s Music and Awana Club only better. The cost for everything is free except for the cost of vests and shirts. Preregistration will start in July. Children’s Music and Awana Club will officially start on Augst 17 at 6:30 with a preview of the year, registration, and parent information meeting.

There will be no activities on Sunday evenings!! So plan to spend time with your family having fun and growing together in Jesus Christ. If you do not have a family devotion time each week, then I suggest that you use Sunday night as a designated time to do that. There are a lot of good devotion books for families with all ages of children. Awana also has a home workbook for families to work through together.

I am excited about what God is doing here at FBCO and I hope you are too. Parents, please pray and consider how you can be involved in helping to develop your child’s spiritual life at home and at church. You are the most important influence in your child’s life, so make every moment count.

Today was great! Here are some pics from some more of the tracks and our party. We had more kids called up to be contestants. They get so excited! We’re so excited because tomorrow is OMC!!!! If you don’t know what that is, stay tuned…..you’ll see some funny pics and hear all about it when they get home! Everyone is definitely getting worn out from so much action and not much sleep. They’re all troopers though! We had Zack Walgren and Alyssa Estes volunteer to give their testimonies during church group time tonight. They told about how they were before they had Christ in their hearts and how they are now. It was so moving and I don’t think there was a dry eye around! Thanks again for blessing us with your precious ones!

Tuesday Camp Update

Well, we all made it perfectly safe and sound this year! No bus problems! We had a great bus ride, watched two movies and stopped at a rest area to enjoy a picnic lunch. All of the kids (and us counselors) were so excited when we arrived and were greated with the awesome Centrikid staff. They are wild and crazy! We registered, picked our track times (activitiy times) and then headed to dinner. The food is great, the kids LOVE the fact that they can go back as many times as they want. The only rules we have are, they have to drink a glass of water with every meal, no ice cream at breakfast and no soda at dinner. They don’t like to go to sleep as it is!

We have had lots of issues with the internet here as far as loading pictures on the website. The guest login for the wi-fi has a very strong firewall and limited features so it has not been allowing me (Kathy) to upload any pictures. I am sending them to the church so that they can be uploaded from there so you will still be able to see them. Please realize that this is a favor/perk that I am doing for you and there is barely any free time for me to be able to get them up as quickly as you would probably like. Our number one priority here is the children and walking with them in growing their relationship with Christ. That is what we are here for. Please just keep checking the website. Everyone will also be getting a cd a week or two after camp of all the pictures that are taken this week. Thank you for your understanding!

Today the kids ran from start to finish as soon as they stepped off the bus. At the end of the night we have what we call party time and we play Explosion Excursion. There were a couple of our kids that were called up to participate. Kirby Krivsky, Randy McRoberts and Aaron Jones both won their crazy tasks (see pics in gallery). There are other pics of our trip down, Pastor Pat, a little group shot as we got here and party time.

We want to thank you so much for sending your children here with us. We are so blessed by them and their precious little hearts. It is truly a blessing!
